Pledges signed to ensure port health, quarantine during Asiad

A meeting was held in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province on Oct. 12 to discuss the implementation of health and quarantine supervision at ports during the upcoming Guangzhou Asian Games and the Asian Para Games. The AQSIQ signed the responsibility pledges on entry-exit health and quarantine work for the Games with the Guangdong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. The Guangdong Bureau and the inspection and quarantine agencies in Guangzhou and the co-host cities including Fanyu, Foshan, Dongguan, Shanwei and Conghua, notified the preparations made to ensure port health and quarantine, and the inspection and quarantine agencies of Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Guangxi, Yunnan and Xinjiang also reported the coordination and collaboration efforts made to tighten health and quarantine supervision. The bureaus of Beijing and Shanghai respectively shared their experience in carrying out health quarantine supervision in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Port health and quarantine and anti-terrorism and emergency response are integral to the Asiad safety. To ensure the successful convening of this international sports event, the Guangdong Bureau also signed the responsibility pledges with its branches to clarify their duties and tasks and ensure supervision effectiveness.
